|
| Lapis lazuli is predominantly synonymous with lazurite; the name is also used for a mixture of lazurite with minor amounts of other minerals including pyrite. The color is typically azure-blue, sometimes greenish-blue, and varies in intensity. Lazurite has, from the earliest times, been prized as material for gemstones, artisan objects, etc. and held high monetary and religious value for the ancient egyptians. Please see our individual retail mineral specimens listings for specific details. |
