As we experiment with fragrances, oils, herbs, candles, foods, etc., we, as human beings, can find our own scents and methods for attaining our desired states of mind and body. Just as each person's body chemistry is different, each person's response to scents or aromas also varies. For example, while lavender may be a calming scent for the majority of people, it can be exhilarating or distasteful to a small amount of others. There is no right or wrong when it comes to appealing scents or aromas, only individual preferences. We all have favorite scents, favorite comforting aromas, and preferences to those scents that impact our mental state favorably for us. It is with this thinking in mind that we are pleased to offer an age-old practice of experiencing new scents to you through incense burners and hand-dipped cork-based incense. We offer a myriad of incense burners, all with different designs and functions to accommodate preference and decor, as well as a variety of different incense scents to accommodate individual state of mind preferences. All of our incense burners are wooden, and are made in India. Our incense is handmade in the USA by a seasoned professional who uses only the finest ingredients. Unlike charcoal-based incense, cork-based incense does not leave an unsightly residue on ceilings and walls. Please remember to use safe practices when burning incense. Never leave lit incense unattended, and be sure to keep lit incense sticks away from any surface (including burner sides and tops) that could catch fire. Keep incense and burners out of the reach of children and pets. Burning incense safely in your home is a great way to experience new scents and influence your state of mind. Creating a soothing and enjoyable atmosphere to relax in doesn't always mean you have to redecorate. You can find peaceful things to incorporate into your atmosphere that will change the natural feel of any room or outdoor spot. Tilghman Traditions is pleased to offer our line of one-of-a-kind, animal painted rocks. Each animal painted rock begins by being sketched then painted on a suitable rock using acrylic paints, is then signed, dated and numbered by the artist, then sealed with two coats of a special gloss finish, UV-resistant protective sealant (similar to the coating applied to your car). We worked closely with a large chemical company to create and test this product before using it on all of our rocks. We found that regular polyurethane coatings just didn't have the sun protection and outdoor protection required for the variable elements and weather conditions across the United States. This sealant will withstand almost anything with the exception of salt water submersion, chemical spills, weed wacker abuse, snow blower damage, and lawn mower mutilation. These unique animal painted rocks are perfect for enhancing your atmosphere, indoors or out. Our animal painted rocks are also perfect gifts for animal lovers, art lovers, gardeners, friends, college students, children, relatives and nature enthusiasts. Be sure to check back regularly, as the animal painted rocks offered continually change. New animal painted rock offerings are added to the site once their sealant has reached final curing status. Tole-Painted / Seasonal Offerings
|

Tilghman Traditions is pleased to offer you some of our unique hand-done tole-painted items. All of our hardwood pieces are functional items, not for display only, and make a superb addition to any home and are not restricted to the kitchen and dining room! Our bowls are one-piece, solid hardwood (mostly Maple), turned by Vermont expert craftsmen for us. We offer two bowl sizes, 8" and 10". The bowls are oiled, sealed, painted, and sealed again, then coated with four applications of non-toxic, food-contact-safe glaze to build up shine and protect from chipping and scratching, hand-buffed between applications. Our French Bread boards are also hardwood, made for us by the same expert craftsmen. They measure 13.5" long by 5" wide by .75" thick. We oil them, seal only the painted side, paint them, seal them again, and coat them with two layers of glaze on the painted side to protect against chipping and scratching. The opposite side is left natural for serving and slicing bread. These bread boards are beautiful as well as functional, but can simply be hung on any wall for visual effect. Our board is heavily used, but is propped up on the kitchen counter with the painted side facing out when not in use to add beauty and warmth to an otherwise empty and common spot. No two pieces are ever the same, and each will be used and treasured throughout the years. We also offer special holiday items such as sundials, holiday decorative plates, Christmas ornaments and more!
